What does a heavy equipment mechanic do?
- Determines the condition of heavy equipment on the job site by performing inspections and tests to identify damaged or worn parts;
- Replaces defective parts, components or systems, using appropriate tools;
- Maintains a preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment to ensure lubrication, tire replacement and tune-ups;
- Performs hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic troubleshoots on air conditioning and grease systems.
What does a welder do?
- Read shop drawings and specifications;
- Prepare materials required for tasks;
- Measure and cut materials required to complete tasks;
- Comply with health and safety regulations.
What does it take to apply?
- Vocational diploma and/or relevant experience in the field;
- Considerable knowledge of the tools and equipment used and required for the overhaul, repair and maintenance of heavy equipment;
- Experience in troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems.
